What Is TightWad?
TightWad lets you create and manage budgets. In today’s economy it’s important to manage our daily spending. Most financial advisors will tell you the most important step in staying on top of your finances is following a budget. Creating a budget is easy to do, but following it can be hard. That’s where TightWad comes in.
You create weekly or monthly budgets for yourself. Each budget has a name, short name for sending text messages, date range and spending limit. For instance, say you only want to spend $20 on dining out this week. Create a new budget, name it "Dining Out", give it a short name of "food", a budget of $20, and pick the start and end dates.
Now the fun begins! With your new budget set up, you can post payments to your budget from your cell phone. After you've paid your bill, get out your phone and text “spent 7 food Cafe Maude”. Within seconds you'll get a response telling you that you have $13 left for the week.
If you have a budget that happens every week or month, you'll want to make a recurring budget. Recurring budgets can be scheduled monthly or weekly starting on Sunday or Monday. The day before your new budget begins TightWad will make it for you and send you an email reminder.
